The William “Buster” Florence Memorial Scholarship: will award (1) $1000 scholarship. Minimum 2.5 GPA. Demonstrate financial need. Member of an athletic team for four years. Applications available in the Guidance Office. Deadline May 7, 2018.
Rose Margaret Truax Scholarship: To assist anyone pursuing a career in nursing or public health and to further the recipient’s ability to become a productive member of society. Minimum 3.5 GPA. Renewable upon maintaining a 3.0 GPA in college. Applications available in the Guidance Office. Deadline May 8, 2018.
The Stephanie Jones Memorial Scholarship: will award (1) $250 scholarship. Minimum 2.5 GPA, demonstrate financial need (EFC from Student Aid Report), member of SHS band, and excelled in math. Applications available in the Guidance Office. Deadline: May 3, 2018.
The Helen Jones Memorial Scholarship: will award (1) $250 scholarship. Minimum 2.5 GPA, demonstrate financial need (EFC from Student Aid Report), interested in the field of education/service, and must have completed one varsity sport. Applications available in the Guidance Office. Deadline May 3, 2018.
Ray and Betty Anne Ponzo Memorial Band/Athletic/Academic Scholarship: will award (1) $500 scholarship. Minimum 3.0 GPA and 20 ACT, either lettered in two varsity sports or have been a member of the band for at least two years and have earned two varsity letters, involved in community service to the community of Shadyside or Shadyside Local Schools, and have been accepted to an accredited two-year or four-year college or technical school. Applications available in the Guidance Office. Deadline May 3, 2018.
The Shadyside Ladies Civic Club Scholarship: will award (1) $1000 scholarship. Minimum 2.8 GPA and have attended Shadyside for the past three years. Criteria is 40% on Community Service; 30% on GPA; 20% on Essay; and 10% Extra-Curricular. Applications available in the Guidance Office. Deadline April 20, 2018
Shadyside Chamber of Commerce Scholarship: will award (1) $500 scholarship for a student seeking a degree in business. Criteria: (1) GPA of 3.0 or higher, (2) Attended Shadyside High School all four years, (3) Proof of Acceptance to a two- or four-year school, (4) 500 word essay why you are a worthy candidate. Applications available in the Guidance Office. Deadline: April 23, 2018
Arthur “Butch” Joseph Scholarship: will award (1) $500 scholarship. Student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, attended Shadyside High School for both grades 11 and 12, and participated in cross country and/or track for at least two years. Criteria: Must write no less than 200 words essay explaining your character, service, and sacrifice through athletic participation. Applications available in the guidance office. Deadline: April 27, 2018.
The Michael and Jane Zunick Scholarship: will award (4) scholarships of $4000 per year, renewable for up to 4 years with proof of maintaining a 2.5 in college. Applicants must be a graduating senior from a high school in Belmont County and pursuing a four-year college degree in a technical area such as engineering, biology, math, or chemistry. Must have (2) letters of recommendation, one from a teacher and the other from another adult not related to the student. Applications available in the Guidance Office. Deadline March 15, 2018.
Albert A. Christ Scholarship Fund: GPA 3.0 minimum, Transcript, FAFSA Report or equivalent (SAR), ACT/SAT scores. Applications available in the Guidance Office. Deadline is April 10, 2018.
Ohio Valley Community Credit Union: will award (4) $1000 scholarships and (1) $1000 Kathie Bayes Scholarship for a student pursuing a business degree. The applicant must be a member of the Ohio Valley Community Credit Union or a student dependent of an OVCCU member. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. Deadline is April 20, 2018.
Russell Scholarship: Scholarships range from $500 to $3000 with only three applications submitted from Shadyside. Criteria: Grades, GPA, Class Rank, ACT/SAT scores, and Need. In addition, two letters of recommendation, a copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR) showing your Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) needs to be included. Applications available in the Guidance Office. Deadline is May 18, 2018.

Belmont County Farm Bureau will award 1 ($1000) scholarship and 1 ($500) scholarship. Must be a child or dependent of a member of Belmont County Farm Bureau; or a Young Active Membership. Applications in the Guidance Office or website at belmont.ofbf.org. Deadline: March 30, 2018.
Independent Insurance Agents Association of Belmont County $500 Scholarship will be payable at the end of the first semester to the college/university/technical school in which the student is enrolled. Minimum 2.5 GPA to apply and receive the scholarship plus must carry sufficient credits to be a full-time student. A one page essay stating future goals and why you are applying for this scholarship and any community service you have been involved with. Attendance is a factor. Deadline: March 31, 2018
COAD (Corporation for Ohio Appalachian Development) David V. Stivison Appalachian Community Action Scholarship Fund This is a need-based scholarship with family income at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines. Durward I. Bernhard Scholarship $2000 to $3,000 per year. Criteria: (1) Reside in Belmont County, (2) Be a direct descendant of a current paid member of the Ohio American Legion or a deceased member in good standing at the time of death, (3) 3.5 GPA, and (4) 25 ACT or higher. Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship: Application on line at enf.elks.org/mvs. Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial needs. Deadline November 27, 2017.
Elks Volunteerism Student of the Month-Student of the Year: $1,000 Scholarship. Based on a high GPA, community service and school activity involvement. Applications available in the Guidance Office. Deadline December 1, 2107.
Carlton-Dew Scholarship: $1000 Accepted to a four-year college majoring in education. It is for Belmont County Residence Only. Minimum 3.0 GPA. Applications available in the Guidance Office. Deadline December 1, 2017.
Ohio Elks Educational Fund Grants. $1,000 Scholarship. These grants will be awarded to applicants desiring to attend a career or technology institution for two years. Deadline March 1, 2018.
VFW Bellaire Post 626 $1,000 Scholarship. 300-word essay “What the First Amendment Means to Me”. The top 3 will be turned in to the Bellaire VFW Post 626, and they will determine the winner. Deadline March 1, 2018.
Progressive Bank College Scholarship Program: $1,000 scholarship renewable for up to four years for students planning to attend either Bethany, OUE, West Liberty, West Virginia Wesleyan, or Wheeling Jesuit. To be eligible for this scholarship, the applicant or a member of the applicant’s family must be a Progressive Bank deposit customer. Criteria for consideration are GPA, SAT/ACT scores, class rank, and recommendations. Applications available in the Guidance Office. Deadline is April 1, 2018.
South Central Power Company Scholarships: Academic Scholarship is $1000. Student must live in a county served by South Central Power, Minimum 3.25 GPA, 22 ACT score, and be accepted to an accredited college, or vocational or technical school. Technical Scholarship is $1,000. Minimum 2.5 GPA. Applicants must enroll in a technical program at a two year college.
