Jefferson Avenue Elementary Families, 

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! My name is Mr. Greg Mehlman and I will be serving as the new principal at Jefferson Elementary beginning with the 2024-2025 school year! I am looking forward to a great year surrounding academic and social growth for the students at Jefferson Avenue Elementary School. The upcoming school year is quickly approaching with staff returning to school on Monday, August 19, 2024. Open house will be from 3:30pm until 6:30pm on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. First and second grade students return to school on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. Preschool and kindergarten students will receive information regarding their start of the school year from the preschool and kindergarten teachers. Our dedicated staff members have worked endlessly this summer to prepare our facilities and curriculum for the students and families of Jefferson Elementary. Facility and operational updates include the new traffic patterns for dismissal to allow for a more accessible pick-up at the end of the day that began last school year, new security cameras in all areas of the school, each teacher is now equipped with a classroom phone, and increased security measures are in place to ensure the safety of our staff and students. The beginning of the school year is a busy time of the year for everyone. We are hoping as a staff, to make this transition smooth for our students and families. I am looking forward to meeting with you all during open-house hours on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 from 3:30pm until 6:30pm. During this time, you will be able to meet your child’s teacher, drop off school supplies, tour the school, and meet with other parents and students. We are prepared to have an exciting year of growth and authentic experiences at Jefferson Elementary!
